USPS and Informed Delivery
What is Informed Delivery?
Informed Delivery is a mail tracking service offered by the United States Postal Service (USPS). It provides recipients with an image of the exterior of incoming letter-sized mailpieces and the option to track packages in one email notification. This allows recipients to know what mail is arriving each day and when to expect its delivery.
Example: Melina (Pledgemine’s Quality Assurance Manager) has Informed Delivery set up for her home address. Each day, she gets an email with scans of what’s in her mailbox, to help decide if she wants to go walk to her front entrance to get the mail, or if she will just wait for her husband to bring it up instead.
Most mail has a greyscale scan of the piece and no additional information. If the sender of the mail has set up an informed delivery campaign, however, the sender can create an “ad” that accompanies the scan of the mail, and also choose to have the “scan” in color.
Melina donates to WBEZ, and occasionally gets appeals that WBEZ has set up informed delivery campaigns for.
It shows a scan of her mail, and the WBEZ donate ad. The ad is clickable, and directs to their giving URL.
When Melina clicks on the ad, WBEZ can see on their informed delivery campaign dashboard that she has done so.
Pledgemine can help facilitate an Informed Delivery Campaign for your projects. Here are the logistics!
(Costs can be invoiced or deducted from your postage balance)
We create USPS gateway for you if you do not have one already that you’re able to utilize. There’s a one-time $100 fee for this, or 200 units.
We’ll apply for informed delivery in the business customer gateway on your behalf
Once you have your final data list, we’ll run the data through our Accuzip software for presort under MID associated with that gateway account (We’ll need to know mailing class for this. If the mail class changes, the presort must be done again with the final mail class.)
$0.03/record or .1 unit per record for running data through our presorting software as required by the USPS. (Minimums are $35 or 100 units)
Our design team creates a ride along image and advertisement, if not provided by you.
Once your project is approved, we will combine all the materials and set up the Informed Delivery Campaign.
$100 or 200 units – Gateway job setup (per campaign)
